Terms of service

Yako (yakobooks.com) is provided by Casia Growth Lab LLC, Villa 33, Cluster 10, Damac Hills 2, Dubai, United Arab Emirates("we", "us"). "You" means the person who creates the account and, where you use Yako for a business, that business. If you accept these terms for a business, you confirm you have the authority to bind it.

• You must be at least 18 and give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password and sign-in details safe and do not share them. Tell us at support@yakobooks.com straight away if you think someone has used your account without permission.
• You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what team members and external advisers you invite do in your workspaces. Give each person only the access they need.

Yako is software for keeping a business's books, preparing reports and working out tax positions. Your account belongs to an organization, and each workspace in it holds the books of one legal entity. We improve Yako over time, so features may be added, changed or retired. If we retire a feature you rely on, we will give you reasonable notice where we can.

Yako does not file returns with tax authorities for you. You or your adviser file on the government's own systems.

• Free trial. A new workspace comes with a 15-day free trial. No card is needed to start it. When the trial ends, you need a subscription to keep editing; until then the workspace may become read-only.
• Price. The standard plan is US$49 per workspace per month, or the price shown to you when you subscribe. Some customers are billed in AED or, for existing Nigerian customers, in Nigerian naira.
• Billing. Subscriptions are billed in advance, by card, through our payment providers (Stripe or Paystack). Your subscription renews automatically each billing period until you cancel. If a payment fails, we may retry it and will let you know.
• Taxes. Prices do not include taxes such as VAT unless we say so. Where we are required to charge tax, we will add it to your bill.
• AI usage. AI features have a usage allowance. If it runs out, AI features pause until it renews or you top it up, and the rest of Yako keeps working.
• Price changes. We may change our prices. We will tell you in advance, and a new price applies from your next billing period after that notice.
• Cancelling. You can cancel at any time. Your subscription keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund partial periods, unless the law requires us to.

The Bookkeeper agent is an optional add-on, in early access. It codes bank transactions, matches payments and asks your team for what it needs. Everything it prepares is approved by a person before it reaches your books, and it can make mistakes.

• Its standard price is US$50 per workspace per month, with monthly, quarterly (US$142.50) or annual (US$510) terms, paid in advance.
• It is currently arranged through our team at products@casialab.com. The price, term and dates agreed with you for an agent apply to it.
• You can stop an agent at any time. It works to the end of the term you have paid for. Partial terms are not refunded, unless the law requires it.
• If the workspace's own subscription lapses, the agent pauses too.

You agree not to:

• use Yako for anything unlawful, including fraud, money laundering, tax evasion or falsifying records;
• upload data you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful or harmful;
• upload malware, or try to break, probe, overload or get around the security or limits of Yako;
• access accounts or data that are not yours;
• copy, reverse engineer or resell Yako, or scrape it with automated tools, without our written agreement;
• use Yako to build a competing product.

• You own it. The records and documents you put into Yako remain yours.
• Our permission to use it. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display your data only as needed to provide, secure and support Yako for you, including through the providers listed in our privacy policy. We never use your data to train AI models.
• Your responsibility. You are responsible for having the right to put data into Yako, including personal data about your customers, suppliers and employees.
• Export. You can export your data, as CSV or Excel, at any time, including when a workspace is read-only.
• Deletion. You can ask us to delete your data by emailing support@yakobooks.com. The privacy policy explains how deletion and retention work.

• Yako uses AI to read documents and statements, suggest coding, prepare proposals and answer questions. AI output can be wrong or incomplete.
• You are responsible for reviewing AI output. Nothing AI prepares reaches your books until a person on your side approves it, and that approval is your decision.
• Yako is not a substitute for professional tax, legal or accounting advice. Tax figures in Yako are worked out from your books and settings and may be estimates. Check them with your accountant or adviser.
• You remain responsible for your books, your tax filings and returns, and any payments due to tax authorities.

You can invite external accountants, auditors and tax advisers into a workspace. They work for you, not for us, and we are not responsible for their advice or their work.

Yako relies on third-party services, such as payment providers, email providers and the government systems you file on. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for them.

We work to keep Yako available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, and we do not offer a service level agreement. We may need to take Yako offline for maintenance, and we will try to do so at quiet times.

• You can stop using Yako and cancel at any time.
• If payment is overdue, we may make your workspace read-only until it is sorted. Your data is not deleted, and reports and exports stay available.
• We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if your use puts Yako or other customers at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Yako, its software, design and brand belong to Casia Growth Lab LLC. These terms give you the right to use Yako while your account is in good standing, and nothing more. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

Apart from what these terms expressly say, Yako is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no other promises about it, including that it will suit a particular purpose or that its output, including AI output and tax figures, will be accurate or complete.

• To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or penalties, interest or charges from tax authorities.
• To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims relating to Yako is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
• Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from claims by others that arise from your data, your use of Yako in breach of these terms or the law, or the actions of people you give access to.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. The courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute. Before going to court, please email support@yakobooks.com so we can try to resolve it.

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Yako after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you can cancel.

• These terms, with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about Yako, unless we have signed something different with you.
• If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
• If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
• You may not transfer your account or these terms without our agreement. We may transfer them to a company that takes over Yako.
• We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
• We may send notices to the email address on your account.
